“Silence now you animals. Inhale…Exhale the Mist.” – Jeremiah Lexer, 1901 Lexer Manifesto

This enormous barn-structure is a labyrinth of Fear, Torture, Desperation and Slaughter that literally drips with innocent blood. Every Fall, a different section of this kill-structure is highlighted and unsealed for the public to feel firsthand the actual, gruesome secrets of its historic past. For 2015, Frightmare Quarantine reveals the cavities of the barn where Lexer would segregate and then “gas” his victims – sending them into a hyper-sensitive, psychotic state of intense paranoia. This chemically induced paranoia would eat away at their minds while accentuating and exposing their own fears. The “Mist” of the Quarantine was designed to circulate through the victim’s lungs where the vapors would cling to the inner walls and immediately be absorbed into the bloodstream. Lexer experimented with different chemical serums to break-down their minds and transform them into animalistic, flesh-eating creatures. New for 2015, victims of Frightmare Quarantine will be given a glowing Death Spike in an attempt to repel the Mist’s effects and guide their way through the endless, dark corridors infested with these rabid, blood-hungry inhabitants. Jeremiah Lexer was not only a ruthless serial killer but remnants show that he was obsessed with being in control and seeing people break. Lexer’s torturous tactics and Quarantine experiments pitted his victims against one another. Most within these walls were transformed into cannibalistic flesh-eating humans where only the luckiest would be eaten quickly.

This intimidating structure was rebuilt to the exact specifications of the original Lexer blueprints found within the Manor by Sheriff Hays on July 5th, 1902. The evil, master plan of Jeremiah Lexer is now available for viewing upon request within the Hamblen County Archives. Prepare yourself as the Quarantined, tortured spirits of the countless Lexer victims return for vengeance on anyone within these blood-stained chambers. Experience your worst nightmares and inhale your greatest fears but whatever happens, “Don’t breathe the Mist.” – Frightmare Quarantine.

Psycho Hill – this is the elevated ground underneath the Original Lexer Cabin at the rear of the plantation. This hillside served as the entry-gate to the valley of the Lexer body farm and mass graves discovered in 1902. This natural, land formation was named “Psycho Hill”

in 1913 by Emma Polston, the next person brave enough to occupy this plantation 11 years removed from the Lexer Family Murders. Dismissing the idea of a curse, Polston attempted to live on the land with her young son and resume natural farming. Her hopes of a normal life in Hamblen County were quickly shattered as farm animals soon went missing only to be discovered the following day with blood streaks leading to the shredded, mutilated and dissected carcasses within the woods directly behind Psycho Hill. The random, night-time slaughter of the animals went on for 2 weeks until October 23, 1913 when she and her son were awakened to loud bangings on the doors of the Manor and bloody animal parts shattering windows.

Being a headstrong, independent farm-woman and not to be intimidated by thieves or wild animals, Emma acted. As recalled by her 9 year old son Haywood hours after the incident –

“Momma grabbed the shotgun, ran me into the parlor closet, kissed me and told me not to leave or make a noise. I wanted to cry because the sounds just kept getting louder outside. I watched her run towards the noises.

Momma yelled and said a bad word as I heard her throw open the back door…She screamed “get off our {removed} land and leave us alone”. I heard 2 pops as she left the house and then I heard my Momma scream – nothing like I’d ever heard before or ever since. I had an awful feeling that she was being eaten by something. I was scared frozen. Momma’s screams lasted like 10 seconds and then it all went away.”

Emma was found soonafter at the entrance to the Lexer Cabin on Psycho Hill with deep gashes across her face and body – her legs severed below the waist. Legend says that Jeremiah Lexer is the killer on Psycho Hill - others claim there was a 2nd mysterious killer that night. To this day, no one knows what happened to Emma Polston. Haywood Polston was orphaned and died alone 9 years later after being committed to the East Tennessee Hospital for the Insane in 1915.

This thick-brushed, wooded area lying beyond Psycho Hill wreaks of decomposed flesh and marks where the majority of Lexer’s 31 dismembered victims were unearthed in July of 1902. Many have claimed to see the image of the Psycho Hill killer standing atop the hill at night – some claim even holding an axe.

Still standing today and sitting atop Psycho Hill, the original Lexer Cabin is listed (along with the Manor) on the Hamblen County Historical Preservation List. Walk amongst these woods and you will begin to see, feel, touch, smell and experience for yourself the True Terror on Psycho Hill.

On July 5, 1902, records show that Jeremiah Lexer brutally murdered his family on these very grounds. He then lept to his death from the 2nd floor window of what is today the entrance to the Manor Attraction. This Fall, experience for yourself the "True Terror" of his suicidal leap as Frightmare Manor presents "The Lexer Jump". The Lexer Jump is a heartpounding Attraction unlike anything you've ever experienced and will leave you screaming for more. Victims will ascend to a height of their choice, approach a ledge, and then leap into the darkness, plummeting back to Earth - with no wires and no harness. This is a must-do Attraction when visiting Frightmare Manor.
